JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It's Wednesday so that means it is time for our Teacher of the Week!

This week we are recognizing Joseph Frencl at Atlantic Coast High School where he teaches calculus.

Frencl was also Duval County's Teacher of the Year.

He's been teaching for 18 years and said when he was in the 7th grade he realized how much he loved math.

Frencl said it's important for teachers to show their passion for the subject they are teaching.

"Whether it is modeling something physically like when we study particle motion and I will put a football helmet on and pretend like I am chasing another football player to model moving to the right and left and changing direction. We will sing songs, we have silly jingles that we do. So anything that gets the students smiling and engaged and confident is important," says Frencl.

His students are taking their AP Calculus test Wednesday, so he made each of them locker tags for good luck!

His best advice to other teachers, find a teaching buddy to share ideas with and learn from.

A big congratulations to Joseph Frencl at Atlantic Coast High School for being our Teacher of the Week and Duval County's Teacher of the Year!
