JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It is time for FCN's Teacher of the Week and this week we want to spotlight Lauren Ascher at Great Strides School in Mandarin. She teaches special needs children not just reading and writing, but also life skills like brushing their teeth.
Lauren's nominator said she has a huge heart for the children and is an inspiration and role model for other teachers. Lauren said seeing the children grow and learn is incredibly rewarding for her.
"We are so lucky, we all love coming to work everyday and work with these students and they make such a positive difference in our lives too. So it is actually really easy to teach them because it is a lot of fun and they want to learn," said Ascher.
This is her fifth year teaching the early learner classroom and just spending time in her classroom, you can see how much she cares for her students.
A big congratulations to Lauren Ascher for being our Teacher of the Week!
Here is what her nominator, Rebecca Kilgore, had to say:
"Lauren works with our younger class of children with special needs. She teaches children to communicate, write, sing songs, play games, and do math all with a smile and love for each and everyone of her kids. Lauren spends tons of her personal time and money to make the children's experience the best it can be. She works closely with parents to teach them how to interact with their children, as you can imagine its not always easy. Lauren is an inspiration to me, a role model for our staff, and mostly a caring individual with a huge heart for all children. I wanted to nominate Lauren so she can see how big of a difference she makes in the children's and staff's lives. She is an asset to our school and to me as a friend. Thank you."
