Jacksonville, Fla. -- Jack Koolik's boat has finally arrived, the World War II veteran is getting his high school diploma after a 71 year wait.
Koolik, 90, will walk with the graduation class of 2014 from Danrell-Cookman. It so happens his daughter who helped get the ball rolling is retiring this year from the school as a math teacher.
"I cannot believe it is happening. All up to my girls, my three women," said Koolik referring to his daughters.
Bonnie Sandler is the daughter who will be handing dad his diploma on Monday evening.
"I am honored, " said Sandler on being able to be on stage with dad on his big day.
The Veterans High School Diploma Program allows the state's education commissioner to award diplomas to vets who left high school early to join the military.
