JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- More than 200 sailors returned home to the First Coast Thursday morning after a six-month deployment aboard the USS Simpson.

The ship pulled into Mayport around 10:00 a.m. Several of the sailors got to hold their newborn children for the first time. "Its one of the best feelings in the world," said one sailor.

The sailors were helping support NATO Operation Active Endeavor, protecting against terrorist activity in the Mediterranean.

The USS Simpson's next deployment will be in eight months.
