WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- A Winter Haven mother has been arrested after police say she shot and killed her adult daughter in an apparent case of mistaken identity.

According to police, 52-year-old Adele Bing had gotten into a heated argument with her boyfriend earlier on Monday. During the fight, Bing allegedly hit 39-year-old James Lane in the head with a gun.

Bing says that Lane left the home, but not before he allegedly told her he'd come back and kill her later.

Police say Lane went to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Meanwhile, Bing remained at her home at 18th Street SE in Winter Haven. Shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday, Bing says she heard "banging" and "kicking" at her front door. Fearing her boyfriend had returned, she opened the door while holding a .22 caliber pistol in one hand and a baseball bat in the other.

As she opened the door, the gun discharged and struck the person on the porch: her 25-year-old daughter Ruby Bing, who was holding her own 4-month-old baby.

Ruby Bing died at the scene from a single gunshot wound to the chest. The infant was not injured.

According to her arrest report, Adele Bing told police the incident was a "f----- up accident" and stated, "How could I look my grandkids in their face and say I killed their mother? Y'all can lock me away for good."

Bing was charged with second degree murder and child abuse without great bodily harm and taken to the Polk County Jail.
