ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. -- One man is facing several charges after police said he drove drunk and crashed into a clothing store.
According to jail records, the charges against Lareese Japell Fields, 42, include leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving and DUI with property damage.
On Sunday at approximately 1 a.m., police were called to the 300 block of Atlantic Boulevard at State Road A1A for a vehicle that struck a business.
A driver is facing a long list of charges after driving an SUV into an Atlantic Beach business.
The investigation found that Fields was allegedly feeling the scene of a separate crash in Jacksonville Beach when his white SUV hit a bump and went airborne before slamming through the front of AshleGryre.
Surveillance video provided to First Coast News by the boutique's owner, Donald Spence, shows Fields getting out of the driver's seat and running away from the scene after the crash.
No serious injuries were reported. The business was closed at the time.
Spence said he has been busy relocating merchandise while repairs are being made. It's believed the business will remain closed for about a month.
"I am very distraught because I think it had something to do with alcohol, but I am not sure. From the video that we have you can see him stagger out of his car. When will people learn?" Spence said.
The crash is estimated to have cost $10,000 in damage.
As of Monday morning, the storefront was boarded up with plywood. A pile of debris remained in the parking lot, but was roped off with caution tape and barricades.
Jail records said Fields is due in court for his first appearance on the charges at 9 am.
