JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Firefighters extinguished a small fire at a business on the city's Westside overnight Friday.

According to Lt. Ellis Burns with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the call to CMC Recycling at 2038 Lane Avenue came in at about 1:30 a.m.

Firefighters had everything under control relatively quickly, but remained on scene for about two hours out of concern over smoldering hot spots.

Lt. Burns said initially it was believed there was magnesium in some of the metal that caught fire.

Lane Ave. from 5th to 12th Streets had to be closed to make room for emergency vehicles, but the road has since re-opened.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No damage estimates were available on scene.

From the front of the business, it was not possible to notice anything out of the ordinary.
