ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A man who rode with a woman to a secluded area to have sex was left without money and clothes Sunday evening after a man who was hiding in the trunk of the car jumped out and robbed him.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office says Danny Hammond and Tiffany Michelle Higginbotham set up a 42-year-old victim and stole his clothing, cellphone, wallet and a small amount of cash.

The victim told investigators Higginbotham picked him up on Holmes Boulevard to engage in an "intimate encounter." The two drove to a remote area of Cherry Tree Road and parked. When they exited the vehicle, Higginbotham opened the trunk and Hammond got out with a weapon, according to the SJCSO.

The two then left the scene with the victim's money and clothes.

Deputies spotted Hammond on Tuesday and apprehended him after he tried to run into a nearby wooded area. Higginbotham was found at her home and taken into custody without incident.

Hammond was charged with armed robbery, grand theft and aggravated assault with a weapon. Higginbotham was charged with principal to armed robbery and grand theft. Both were booked into county jail on bonds of $28,000 and $12,000, respectively.
