JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two men were shot while sitting in a vehicle at a drive-thru liquor store in Northwest Jacksonville Thursday night.

The victims were in a vehicle outside Soutel Liquors when an SUV with multiple men inside pulled up next to the car and fired several shots into the passenger side, according to Sgt. Steve Zona.

Both of the victims were struck and the SUV sped away.

The victims drove to a nearby Winn-Dixie located at the corner of Soutel Drive and Moncrief Road to get help just after 9:30 p.m. Paramedics treated the victims inside the store, leaving a trail of blood behind on the supermarket floor.

The victims were taken to UF Health. One of the victims is in stable condition and the second victim remains in life-threatening condition following surgery. The victims are in their early to mid-20s.

JSO says the vehicle carrying the shooter was a early 2000s, black Ford Expedition SUV. No suspect information was immediately available.

JSO is investigating a shooting on the Northwest side of Jacksonville that ended in Winn-Dixie parking lot.

Sgt. Zona said he does not know if it was a targeted shooting. JSO is reviewing the surveillance footage at Soutel Liquors and interviewing a witness to learn more about what happened.
