JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – On a stormy Monday, as people shuffle through the streets in front of the Duval County Courthouse, a local pastor poured over his concerns.

Kenneth Adkins is thinking about a trial for Marissa Alexander and the effect it could have on the River City. Adkins is making a plea to avoid a trial for Alexander.

"I don't think that she's going to have a chance," said Adkins.

Adkins made a proposal in March, saying he and other local clergy were asking both State Attorney, Angela Corey and Marissa Alexander to reconsider the plea deal of three years originally put on the table. Adkins wants to, "avoid a crazy trial, another trial that might have the opportunity to cast Jacksonville in a negative light."

The March proposal prompted vicious backlash, so this time Adkins is standing alone and asking Corey to consider re-offering Alexander the original plea deal and it is another offer to ask Marissa Alexander and her attorney's to accept if the deal is offered. Adkins plans to hand deliver his request to the State Attorney's office Tuesday.

Adkins stands firm on his belief that a plea is best.

First Coast News reached out to Angela Corey's office today about Adkins' request and received this response, "The State Attorney's Office does not extend plea offers publicly. Offers are appropriately extended between parties or in open court."

Staring Friday Jacksonville will become host to hundreds of activists from all across the nation, including supporters of Marissa Alexander, for "Standing Our Ground Week."
