JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man is facing child neglect charges after leaving his child unattended in his vehicle while he went to work, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Hamid Ahmad Nike Mohammad Ahmadzada, 49, was arrested Sunday afternoon.

Officers said a woman called 911 after she noticed a 7-year-old boy lying down in the front passenger seat of a vehicle that was parked outside of American Signature Furniture store on Atlantic Blvd.

When officers arrived, they learned that the boy's father was in the furniture store where he was doing work for a cleaning company.

The vehicle was parked in the shade and all four windows were partially cracked, according to court records.

The boy appeared to be fine but spoke limited English, officers said.

The witness told authorities she called 911 roughly 20 minutes after she saw the boy in the vehicle.

Employees at the furniture store told officers there is a break room that is air conditioned inside, and the victim did not have to sit in the car.

Ahmadzada has been charged with willfully neglecting a child that doesn't cause great bodily harm.
