JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a reported kidnapping attempt Sunday night.

According to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Chris Hancock, a suspect chased after a 14-year-old in the 8800 Rockpond Meadows Drive. Off duty officer David Busekrus was the area heard the victim scream for help and responded.

Busekrus and two citizens took down the suspect and stopped what appeared to be an attempted kidnapping. The call came in to JSO at 8:10 p.m., Hancock detailed.

The unidentified suspect is now in custody. Charges have not been announced, but are likely pending.

The teen victim has been returned home and does not know the suspect, according to Hancock.

Officer Busekrus, a 12 year veteran with JSO, suffered minor injuries during the incident.
