LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A Lake City man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly broke into an impound lot and took his car back after it was towed.
Robert Russell's 1997 Acura was towed on orders from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office by Donald Davis Towing Friday night. On Saturday, according to the Lake City Police Department, Davis entered impound yard between 5:00 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. and got out of the yard by crashing his car though the gate.
A BOLO was issued on Russell and his vehicle. CSSO found Davis next to his broken down Acura on Interstate 75 a short time later.
Russell, 25, was arrested, transported and booked into the Columbia County Detention Center. He was charged with burglary, criminal mischief and attaching a tag not assigned to his vehicle.
