NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. -- A Florida Missing Child Alert has been issued for an 11 year old boy from Callahan.

Jason Taylor, 11, is believed to be with his mother Vetta Thompson in the Southeast Georgia area.

The Nassau County Sheriff's Office says Thompson has been involved in a custody battle with the boy's father. On Friday, the judge was set to award custody to the father and Thompson failed to show up at court with their son.

They were last seen at the Best Western in Yulee.

The young boy was last seen wearing gray shorts, a black t-shirt and black flip flops. The mother has brown hair with blonde tips and a tattoo on her lower back.

They may be traveling in a 2003 white Ford F-150 with a tag number of 8668HW. The truck has a diamond plated tool box in the bed and a bug shield on the front.

According to the NCSO, there is no reason to believe the child has been harmed, but they don't know if the child is in danger.

Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper says that she may have mental health issues.

If you have any information concerning the whereabouts of the missing child or his mother, please contact FDLE or the Nassau County Sheriff's Office at 855-725-2632 or 911.
