JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One person was arrested and another is recovering after a shooting ends with a high-speed chase and crash.

It all started around 2 a.m. Wednesday in the area of West Moncrief Rd. and East Ken Knight Dr.

The Jacksonville's Sheriff's Office responded to a call for a man who sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim told officers that the shooter opened fire after trying to rob him. A short time later, a four-door sedan was spotted speeding away from the scene.He was taken to UF Health in Jacksonville with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers attempted to get the driver, identified as 21-year-old Timothy Lawrence McGhee, to pull over, but were unsuccessful. They then chased the vehicle for about three miles until it lost control and crashed at West 30th and Marlo St.

A single-story brick home sustained extensive damage to its front yard as a result of the crash. A woman told First Coast News she was asleep until she heard a loud noise and found the car only feet away from her front door.

"I'm real shaken up," she said.

The woman did not want us to identity her, but said she had lived in the house for seven years.

After the crash McGhee was taken to UF Health Shands with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives questioned McGhee at the hospital and he was arrested for fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer.

At this time, police do not know if McGhee was involved in the shooting.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
