JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police say a man was shot leaving the parking lot of a Winn Dixie located in the 5200 block of Moncrief Road Tuesday night.

The shooting happened around 11: 15 p.m., according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The victim told JSO officers he heard a loud pop and his back passenger window was shattered. He was struck in his right shoulder by a bullet.

Police say he drove himself to his nearby residence. His grandmother called 911 and attempted to drive him to the hospital. They were stopped by police at the Popeye's located in the 2100 block of Edgewood Avenue.

The victim was not able to provide authorities with information regarding suspect information. No arrests were made.

The unidentified victim was then taken to UF Health Jacksonville with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office asks that any witnesses to the shooting contact the department's Homicide Unit at 904-630-0500 or First Coast Crimestoppers at (866)-845-TIPS.
