JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The State Fire Marshal is stepping into investigate after a pair of structure fires on King Street, authorities said Sunday.
A supervisor with JFRD told First Coast News there was no truth behind earlier reports of a person trapped inside a structure, located in the 300 block of King Street.
Firefighters on scene said both buildings involved were vacant.
Two buildings at the scene were in flames when crews arrived. Damage to one of the structures was called "minimal" while damage to the other building was substantial. Even so, firefighters on scene told First Coast News the second building was not a total loss.
The initial call came in before 1:30 p.m., according to JFRD.
Because there were two fires, investigators say they suspect foul play. The State Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.
