JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police are searching for two women who may have witnessed an attempted kidnapping June 4.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to the Gateway Mall at 6:12 p.m. after two boys, ages 8 and 13, were allegedly approached by registered sex offender Willis Armando Miller, 30, according to JSO.

The boys were walking to the restroom when Miller allegedly approached and put his hand on the 8-year-old's shoulder stating, "I want to show you some love."

When the boys exited the restroom, two unidentified female witnesses approached the boys and asked if they knew who the stranger was. According to the release, the boys replied they did not and the women told the boys to go home. The women also made contact with the mother of the boys inside the mall and told her the suspect had his hands on the 8-year-old and was trying to take him from the mall. The mother was not able to get names or contact information for the women who intervened.

The boys were able to provide police with a description of Miller, who was located a short time later at the intersection of North Davis Street and West Castlewood Drive. According to the release, Miller spontaneously stated to police that he was not a child molester. When Miller was asked how he knew the incident involved children, Miller allegedly began crying and did not answer.

Willis is charged with failure to comply with sex offender requirements and kidnapping/child under 13/indecent act or in presence is currently being held in the Duval County Jail on a $850,006 bond.

Investigators are trying to locate the two women who intervened. The women would have been at the Gateway Mall June 4 between 5:45 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Anyone who has any information in regards to the identity of these two witnesses who helped these boys is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500.
