JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A single-car accident on the interstate sent a Jacksonville Sheriff's officer, who was responding to a high priority call, to the hospital Saturday morning, police said.

The officer was heading south on I-295 north of Roosevelt Boulevard about 3 a.m. when the patrol car crashed, the Sheriff's Office said.

No other cars or people were involved.

The officer's identity has not been released.

It's not yet clear how fast the vehicle was traveling or what may have triggered the crash.
