JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Lake City Police Department is looking for a man who shot another man during an argument early Sunday morning.

Deonte L. Dunning, 21, was standing with a group of friends in front of a home in Lake City when the unidentified suspect walked up. The suspect began to argue with Dunning, then pulled out a gun and shot him three times, according to LCPD. The young suspect then fled on foot.

According to LCPD, the shooting happened in the 700 block of NW Long Street just after 2 a.m.

Dunning remains in the hospital in stable condition.

A person of interest has been identified and other witness interviews continue, according to LCPD.

"I encourage the community to come forward and assist us in this investigation. There were numerous people in the area at the time of the shooting, and saw what happened," said Chief Argatha Gilmore. "We take every crime, especially shootings, very seriously and will handle them as thoroughly as possible."
