JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Crew members of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Valiant are back home in Mayport after wrapping up a patrol off the coast of north Florida and a four-month dry-dock stint in Savannah, Ga.

The crew returned to its home port on Sunday.

During the patrol, crew members took part in multiple vessel boardings to ensure boating safety, protection of natural resources and compliance with fishing regulations -- along with drills and training exercises.

The 47-year-old vessel underwent a $2.4 million overhaul while dry-docked, including spruced up running gear, a new paint job and extensive interior repairs.
