JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- In a few weeks, Save our Sons will have a week of activities aimed at Jacksonville's young men. The goal is to teach them everything from values to respect, in hopes they'll get back on, or stay, on the right track.
Dr. John Guns is the founder of Operation Save Our Sons. He says the week of activities will cost his non profit about $15,000. One of the events is a summit. It's scheduled for June 14. Hundreds of young men and their families are expected.
"The challenge for us is trying to do something that everyone says we need to do, and everyone says needs to be done," Guns said.
He says he's still looking to donors, and other support, to help fund the week and the summit.
"We want to be able to give the event in a way that reflects our vision, our dreams, our goals," he said.
First Coast News asked why the event is happening with concerns about funding.
"At the end of the day, anyone that does anything plans it believing they can fund it," he said.
