JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The state Department of Education came to town last Tuesday to investigate a complaint received from Disability Rights Florida. That complaint alleges that special education teachers were asked by at least one principal to do work unrelated to exceptional student education.
According to local school officials, the state randomly selected 18 elementary schools and interviewed faculty and staff.
The schools include: Twin Lakes, Beauclerc, Pine Estates, Andrew Robinson, Oak Hill, Normandy Village, Enterprise Learning Academy, Sadie T. Tillis, Brookview, Justina Road, Ramona, Hyde Grove, Crown Point, Venetia, Windy Hill, Englewood, Love Grove, and Spring Park.
The investigation is active and not expected to be finished until mid-June.
