JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – The remains of a man missing since early May have been found and positively identified.

In a press release, the Jacksonville Beach Police Department stated that 38-year-old Eric John Gattes is no longer missing. Gattes' remains were recovered in Atlantic Beach and positively identified.

Authorities began searching for Gattes after his 1994 Geo Prism was found May 5 at a business on Mayport Road.

According to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department, Gattes was living in his vehicle at the time and all of his belongings were found inside and appeared to be in order.

Gattes had a medical condition which require medication that he does not have with him, according to family members.
