JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- When Dan Lowe was released from prison several years ago, he made the decision to turn his life around.

"I think a certain amount of guys are going to go one direction and a certain amount are going to go in another direction, and you just have to make the decision to make those changes," he said.

Since being released, he's gotten into recycling, and now, is turning to the internet to help those in who need it in Jacksonville.

"I think it's filling a void in my life," he said.

He's created a Go Fund Me account and a Facebook page, both dedicated to raising money and raising awareness of the needy, one family at a time. Right now, there's a Go Fund Me account to raise money for a family in Fernandina Beach that needs an air conditioner.

"I think it'll feel good to help someone that probably just didn't have the means to do it themselves," he said.

Whether it's through his recycling business, or online, Lowe wants to be a big player in helping Jacksonville.

"It takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to help a family, I have a place in the community," he said.
