JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A child and father are in the hospital after a near drowning on Little Talbot Island Tuesday afternoon.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Spokesman Tom Francis said the child is in serious condition.

According to Francis, the child was caught in the undertow and the father dove into the water to save his child.

The father was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Both patients are at UF Health, Francis said.
