BUNNELL, Fla. (AP) - Inmates at the Flagler County Jail will be able to receive mail other than postcards.
Officials said Thursday that the Flagler County Sheriff's Office has reached a settlement with the wife of an inmate who had challenged the jail's policy of allowing inmates to receive only postcards.
Jennifer Underwood claimed in her lawsuit that the policy violated her First and Fourth amendment rights.
The settlement allows inmates to receive letters in envelopes. It also requires inmates to be notified if sheriff deputies refuse to deliver a piece of mail to or from an inmate.
