JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 9 millimeter was found in the checkpoint area of Jacksonville lnternational Airport Monday morning.
According to Michael Stewart, the airport's director of external affairs, the gun was reported by the person traveling with the gun holder.
The weapon was found in his carry on and was confiscated. That person was interviewed by police and the FBI was called to determine criminal intent.
Stewart said in 2013, 34 guns were intercepted at the airport's checkpoint and on average, less than three guns a month are intercepted at the checkpoint.
