JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police responded to a suspicious death in the Riverview area of the Northside Tuesday morning.

Students heading to a bus stop allegedly saw a deceased male in the area of 4th Ave and Clyde Drive, according to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office homicide Sgt. T.K. Waters. The victim was spotted near the rear corner of a home.

Neighbors told police they heard gunshots Monday night around 9:30 p.m., but according to Sgt. Waters no one reported them. The male victim, 17-year-old Errin Alexander Brooks, was found dead Tuesday, but police did not say if he had any gunshots wounds.

The Jacksonville Medical Examiner and an Assistant State Attorney were on scene investigating. The cause and time of death have not been released at this time.

Sgt. Waters said there are no suspects or suspicious vehicles at this time.

The investigation is ongoing and foul play is suspected.
