JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A woodworking shop just east of Springfield is a total loss after a fully involved fire Friday night.
Firefighters were called to the shop near E. 11th Street and Evergreen Avenue around 7:44 p.m., according to Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department Battalion Chief Brady Rigdon.
As the fire burned, plumes of black smoke could be seen coming from the area from downtown and from the Mathews Bridge.
Rigdon said the building is a complete loss, but no one was injured and surrounding buildings did not sustain any damage.
Some hot spots are still smoldering, so firefighters will be at the scene for a few more hours to make sure the fire is completely out.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
