Leadership conference for women draws attendees from all over the First Coast
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Women from all over the First Coast are involved in a leadership conference at UNF. Several presenters gave presentations on how to be better educated and connected to the community. Close to 12,000 women attended the event UNF's Fine Arts Center to learn more about empowering themselves.
"We're really going to focus on networking, and social entrepreneurship this year as well as reconnecting and reinventing ourselves," says event manager Pauline Gerry.
"Women in leadership is the way this nation will change. We're all in a nation on the brink of being something different and women who have are going to make a difference than women who have not," says speaker Genie James.
The women come to these events for several reasons.
"We are definitely a big apart of the push to get things done and promote and learn. Any opportunity there is available for us to learn and be better at anything, why not take it?," says attendee Davina Hamilton.
"Any kind of grouping of the community together and powerful women in the community just empower them to get out there and get involved," says Illiana Tidd who also went to vent.
This is the third year for the event but don't worry if you missed it this year, they plan to do it again next year.
