JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- No one was injured after an SUV drove into the living room of a house on Jacksonville's Northside Thursday afternoon. The damage to the home was significant, and it wasn't the first time.
According to JSO, the driver fell asleep while traveling along Moncrief Road and the vehicle crashed through the homeowner's den.
The incident occurred in the 7400 block of Dostie Drive East, according to Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department Tom Francis.
Neighbors told First Coast News cars have crashed into homes in the area before, and it was the second time a vehicle crashed in the home on Dostie Drive. The first time, neighbors said, the car drove into the bedroom.
No one was home at the time of the crash. A mother who lives in the home had just left to pick up her kids from school.
Christian Smith, who is with the Red Cross, says the Red Cross is on scene to assist the family.
The male driver has been cited for careless driving, according to JSO.
