JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A suspect was taken into custody Saturday afternoon following a Northside stand-off that last lasted for hours.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, it received a tip around 10 a.m. that a violent felon was in a home in the 1800 block of West 33rd St.

Deputies responded, and after three hours of negotiations, JSO SWAT was called to the scene. Contact was made with a female inside the residence, but only the female and small child came out of the residence when requested.

The male suspect eventually emerged from the home peacefully, according to JSO.

The female was arrested for resisting an officer without violence. The woman told police no one else was inside the home even though the child said the suspect was in the home.

JSO did not give details on the previous charges for the suspect. Additional charges are pending.
