JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office bomb squad responded to a report of a suspicious device in the 1000 block of Stokes Street about 7 p.m. Thursday.

JSO Lt. Spates said an unidentified man found the device on Wesconnett Boulevard, brought it home and then called police.

It took officers a couple hours to get to the device. Spates said the device has been rendered safe, but it is unclear what it is. Spates says it looks like older military ammunition.

JSO searched the Wesconnett area but did not find any other suspicious items.

Approximately 25 to 30 people are back in their homes after being evacuated.
