The impact of the crash caused both Mercer and Jenkins to be ejected onto the road
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A woman remains in critical condition after a car crash late Sunday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Selina Mercer, 22, was the passenger of a white mini-van that was being driven by 24-year-old Christina Jenkins when a Lexus crashed into them.
FHP reported that at the time of the accident, Jenkins was attempting to turn left onto SR 134, headed east from southbound Old Middleburg Road.
Allen John Lemos, 45, was traveling east on SR 134 (103rd Street) in the inside travel lane when he failed to stop at a red light, causing the Lexus to hit the front of the mini-van.
The impact of the crash caused both Mercer and Jenkins to be ejected onto the road.
Both Mercer and Jenkins were transported to UF Shands.
According to the FHP report, neither Mercer nor Jenkins were wearing their seatbelts at the time
Lemos was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Charges are pending at this time.
