JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is searching for a man who stole a car and ran from officers Sunday morning when the stolen car ran out of gas near NAS Jax.

JSO was alerted of a possible abduction at 9 a.m. on the Southside where a woman was reportedly forced into a car.

A short time later, according to JSO, officers saw the car involved in the incident at a gas station near Naval Air Station Jacksonville. The man attempted to drive off but his car ran out of gas and rolled into a ditch.

A man jumped out of the car and fled on foot and has yet to be apprehended, according to JSO. The woman remained in the car.

The female told JSO she was not abducted, but she was treated for minor injuries on her feet. The unidentified woman said she got into a fight with the driver but did not know his name.

An investigation revealed that the car was taken during a robbery last month on the Southside.

JSO could not provide any additional information.
