ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- One suspect is in custody and another is at-large in St. Johns County following an alleged home burglary and car theft.
The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office believes the two suspects broke into a home, stole items, stole a car and took off in the car.
SJCSO used a helicopter and multiple officers to track down one of the suspects, 19-year-old Christopher Wafer, who fled on foot after exiting the stolen car.
The incident happened around noon near North 1st Street and State Road 16, according to SJCSO spokesperson Catherine Payne.
Deputies are still searching for the second male suspect who also fled on foot. Payne told First Coast News the search was suspended around 2 p.m. According to Payne, there is "no indication" that the second male is armed.
Payne said the home was also where a meth lab was discovered last week on February 21st. Payne said it's too early to know the home's use as alleged meth lab is connected to today's burglary.
All of the stolen property and the vehicle have been recovered, Payne noted.
Wafer was arrested and charged with probation violation. Payne said additional charges are pending.
