JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A woman was arrested when she arrived to Landon Middle School Thursday for allegedly hitting a child hard enough to leave a bruise on his face.
According to a Jacksonville Sheriff's arrest report, a student at Landon Middle showed up to school with large bruise on the right side of his face Thursday and told school officials he was struck by Marie April, 41.
A Department of Children & Family Services representative arrived at the school and investigated the incident. The child said April hit him repeatedly in the face with her open hand, the report states.
April told JSO she pushed the victim's face down, but she never struck him, according to the report. When questioned further, she eventually told police she hit the child one time in the face but was not aware of any bruising.
April was placed under arrest around 3:15 p.m. and charged with child abuse.
The victim's relationship with April is unknown to First Coast News.
