LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A Columbia County deputy chased down and caught a robbery suspect in the woods of Lake City early Saturday morning.
According to Columbia County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a robbery in progress at the S&S store at 3919 N. U.S. Highway 441.
Robert Bogosta, 29, allegedly walked into the store, handed the clerk a note demanding money and acted like he was reaching for a gun. The clerk gave him the money but locked the door to keep Bogosta from leaving. Bogosta then threw a fire extinguisher through the door and fled, according to CCSO. The fire extinguisher stuck another customer that was approaching the door, but he was not injured.
Deputies attempted to stop the car after they saw Bogosta's vehicle speeding south on US 441.
Bogosta eventually stopped the vehicle, jumped out and ran into the woods where one of the deputies chased him down and placed him under arrest.
The money and other evidence were recovered from the vehicle, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.
