JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday night after a domestic dispute on the Southside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO responded to an armed domestic dispute involving a husband threatening his wife with a gun in the 3100 block of Fort Jackson Dr. around 11 p.m., according to JSO.

SWAT responded and it believed the male suspect was still inside the residence. An arrest warrant was obtained for the offense of Aggravated Assault – Domestic Violence.

During the course of the incident he also threatened to kill himself with the handgun.

SWAT officers and Negotiators attempted to make contact with the suspect using the telephone and amplified voice communications from outside the residence. They were never able to make contact with the suspect.

Entry was made into the residence and a male subject, believed to be involved in the original incident, was found to be deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. SWAT medics were present and attempted to attend to the man but he was already deceased.

At that point a Homicide call-out was initiated and Homicide Detectives will continue to investigate the case from this point forward. SWAT officers did not fire any shots at the scene nor did they hear a shot fired from inside.
