ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A man who allegedly tried to run three St. Johns County Sheriff's Office deputies over during traffic stop turned himself in to the U.S. Marshals Task Force Friday afternoon.
Andrew Thomas Stanton, 26, is now charged with three counts of attempted murder and three counts of resisting an officer with violence, according to a release from SJSO Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw.
Stanton was stopped behind the City of St. Augustine Police Department early Tuesday morning. When deputies told him to cooperate, Stanton accelerated and hit one deputy. He also tried to hit two other deputies on the scene, according to a release from the SJCSO.
Stanton has had previous violent interaction with law enforcement. He will be booked in to the St. Johns County Jail.
