JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --It is Wednesday so that means it is time for our Teacher of the Week!
This week FCN is spotlighting 5th grade teacher Christina Soto at Duval Charter School at Baymeadows.
This is her second year of teaching, but her nominator said she makes learning fun and breaks down the lesson into bite-sized chunks so kids can remember.
Mrs. Soto told FCN she puts a lot of effort into planning her lessons to keep it active and fun!
While we filmed in her classroom, she had the kids answering math questions at the board and had a lot of volunteers who wanted to participate in the lesson.
"My advice is to think about the kids all the time, anytime I am feeling tired I just think about the kids. It is impossible to come to work in a bad mood and stay in a bad mood for more than five minutes. All you have to do is see a smile, if you keep that in mind at all times it is just totally worth it," tells Mrs. Soto.
Soto said she grew into a love of helping and teaching others because her brother had autism and she spent a lot of time volunteering at his schools.
That's when she felt her calling to teach.
Congratulations Mrs. Soto for being our Teacher of the Week!
