JACKSONVILLE, FLA -- Two people died in an early morning, single car crash on I-295.

The double fatal crash occurred at 4:25 a.m., according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

A tan 2009 Toyota Corolla was traveling Southbound on I-295 near Old St. Augustine Road, when it left the roadway, struck a light pole and continued on to hit a tree. The car caught fire and engulfed the passenger side of the Toyota, the report detailed.

Both the driver and the passenger were trapped inside the car as a result of the crash and neither has been identified at this point in FHP's investigation.

No one in the car was using a seat belt, according to the report and several lanes of traffic were blocked throughout the morning rush as a result of the crash.
