JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --A single car crash killed one man early Friday morning.

An unidentified man was traveling west on Mandarin Road and crashed into a tree near the area where the road splits withLoretto Road, according to Det. Robert Peck with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The driver was thrown from his vehicle upon impact still in the driver's seat he was buckled in, Peck stated.

The crash shut down Mandarin Road between Loretto and Sparkleberry Lane for for almost five hours Friday morning.

An investigation is underway. No word at this time if alcohol was a factor.
