JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It is video that you don't see every day. It happened Wednesday afternoon at the Gateway Mall in Jacksonville.

A First Coast News employee captured the video.The employeereported that it was a very tense situation and is glad to be safe and alive.

Looking closely at the video, it appears to be a theft caught on camera.

In the first portion of the video, a man can be heard yelling "Hey! Hey! Stop him!"

That man continues to run in the direction of a car as he appears to scream at a person whom he says took his bag.

As the video progresses, someone is seen jumping into a white car.The driver of the car begins to speed off before the rear driver's side door is closed by someone inside the vehicle. The First Coast News employee had the wherewithal to record all of this as it was happening.

The video showsthe car continuingthrough the parking lot of the shopping center.The FirstCoast Newsemployee zooms the camera in on the car, clearly revealing the license plate of the vehicle before it gets away.

First Coast News wanted to know, if you see something like this happen, what should you do?

First For You, Consumer Reporter David Williams got advice from an expert.

A Clay County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said if you have a cell phone and you're within recording distance, record what's happening only if you can do so safely.

If you do not have a cell phone, try to pay attention and be able to physically describe the suspect and the vehicle. If you can, write down the license plate number or even a partial plate number andthe make and model of the vehicle.

The spokesperson said even with a little bit of information, police can narrow down the results in a database.

Also, call 911 immediately and report the incident to police.

In this instance, the First Coast News employee was able to tell the point thealleged victimto a Sheriff's car nearby.
