JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man was convicted by a jury on two counts of sexual battery after being arrested last year for sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl.

Lonnie Charles Holmes, 36, forced the girl to perform sex acts on him several times between June 2010 and April 2011, according to a release from the State Attorney's Office.

Holmes, who faces mandatory life in prison, will be sentenced September 25.

"The jury has vindicated this brave little girl after coming forward, and she will never suffer at his hands again," said Assistant State Attorney Anna Hixon.
