JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office discovered not one but two meth labs inside a Westside home.

On Thursday afternoon neighbors flagged police down on Herta Street, according to Melissa Bujeda, Public Information Officer for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The neighbors told police there was a meth lab in the 4700 block of Herta St.

Officers did an initial investigation and Bujeda said theycould see a meth lab inside the home's windows. That's when they called Jacksonville Fire/Rescue HAZMAT team and the JSO Bomb Squad.

Bujeda said the meth lab was used as recently as yesterday to cook methamphetamine.

Once officers cleared the first lab out they did a search of the house and found a second meth lab.

The home had children's toys and diapers spread around it and John Harrell with DCF told First Coast News that his agency removed two children who were under the age of 12 from the home. Due to privacy laws, Harrell could not say if DCF had any previous dealings with this family.

DCF was working to find a relativeto care for the children, and at last check, Harrell said they were still looking for that person.
