COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- Columbia County High School was on lockdown earlier Wednesday, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

Public Information Officer Mark D. Pentolino said deputies received a 911 call saying that a student had a gun at the school.

The call was later determined to be a hoax and a 16-year-old female student was taken into custody, according to CCSO Public Information Officer Murray Smith

She is being charged with disturbing the peace at a school, making false reports and misuse of 911.

She was processed at the County Detention Facility and released to a parent, according to Smith.
