BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. -- It is Friday so that means it is time for our student of the week. This week we are spotlighting 7th grader Emily Acevedo from Bradford Middle School. She is a juror for teen court, involved in her youth group at church and is a member of the FFA and 4H.

What is really neat about Emily is that she has been developing a pregnancy test for goats is working with a graduate student and professor at the University of Florida. Part of that research was also her science fair experiment which won and now she is headed to the state competition next week!

Emily says it is important that students take advantage of opportunities while in school and be a good student.

"The better grades you have, that means a better job you can go into and it usually means you can go to a good college and get a degree and do something you are really interested in," says Emily.

She says she wants to go into agriculture research, be a veterinarian or an agriculture teacher when she grows up. So congratulations to Emily Acevedo at Bradford Middle School for being our Student of the Week and good luck next week at the state science fair!
