DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. -- More than 46-hundred students woke up early Saturday morning and hit the books across Duval County. The district's Saturday school program began January 25.

Duval County Schools Superintendent Nikolai Vitti hopes the sixth day of classes will reduce the dropout rate, increase test scores and raise the graduation rate.

Low performing schools are being targeted by the Saturday school program with reading, math and science as the focus.

Saturday school is from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Free transportation is provided for middle and high school students.
